I believe it is my duty to help those of us who feel insecure about going to a gym, feel uncomfortable in their bodies, or just want to enhance their health and wellness. I believe in Keep It Simple! Working out is safe, fun, and good for you!
The 3 keys are: |
Eat RightMore water, less sugar, plenty of fruits and vegetables, moderate on the red meat, an occasional drink or two of alcohol, and a taste of chocolate if you so desire. Calories in vs. calories out. If you sit around most of the day then of course you are going to be deconditioned if you eat and then don't burn it off. Get up and move! |
Train Smarter Not HarderNo isolated movements unless training for strength or bodybuilding. No straight up and down heavy loads damaging the joints. Train total bodymulti-joint exercises, train for movementmulti-planar exercises! Use the rep, weight, and rest scheme that is right for your goals! No boring hour long cardio sessions. Train with resistance, interspersed with cardio based activities: jumping, sprints, mountain climbers, agility drills. Don't forget to stretch dynamically for a warmup, work those pillars for core strength, and do your static stretching last! |

Think PositiveChange doesn't happen overnight. It took you awhile to get overweight and deconditioned, so be prepared to give it time. Exercise your mind and spirit. Read books: something else besides trashy mags or romance novels. Exercise your spirit. Do something good for humanity. Join the SPCA, donate to Darfur, clean your bathroom. Go to church, mass, the mosque, the synagogue, the beach, the mall, wherever you can become one with the universe, quiet your mind, think. Love as much as you can, express your love to the important people in you life, find beauty in everything. Your life, your health, our world will be better for it. |
